The Area 2 Agency on Aging/REAL Services, Inc. continues to develop relationships with colleges and universities through our Student Internship Program in, and around, our five (5) county service area.

Student Internships are often available which compliment both agency needs, and student learning objectives. Most programs in which the internship experiences occur are available in our entire service area of Elkhart, Kosciusko, LaPorte, Marshall, and St. Joseph counties.

Student Interns assist the agency’s mission by providing hands-on assistance to the staff responsible for the numerous programs which help so many individuals, in so many different ways, in our service area.

Internship Opportunities are available in the Ombudsman and Guardianship programs, the Resource Center, and Case Management. There are also data entry and clerical opportunities, and for some basic client contact. Other opportunities could be developed to meet Interns educational needs.

For more information contact Tricia Gorden, Director of Training and Community Resources, at 574-284-7108 or 800-552-7928 (in Indiana only), ext. 7108 or tgorden@realservices.org

Types of Internships that may be available:

    3. Paid by Intern’s School

Internship Benefits:

    2. Provides resume building, on-the-job training, and hands-on experience

Times of Internships:

    1. Hourly

    3. Other, as long as it fits both the program’s and the student’s schedule

If a student is interested in an Internship as a volunteer opportunity, we will have the student talk with the Volunteer Program for placement as a volunteer, as the two are separate programs.
